WhatsApp Can Now Use AI to Summarize your Messages
WhatsApp recently announced that it was launching “Message Summaries”, a new feature powered by Meta AI that can summarize unread messages in users’ chats. The feature works by providing an instant overview of a conversation, without users needing to read every detail of said conversation.

Interestingly, WhatsApp says that the Message Summaries feature will use Private Processing technology, allowing Meta AI to generate a message summary without Meta or WhatsApp actually seeing one’s messages or the summary itself. Additionally, no one else in the chat will know you’ve used the feature. If you’re not too keen on using the feature though, WhatsApp says that Message Summaries and other Private Processing features will be optional and are turned off by default.
On the other hand, users who want to try out the new feature will have to wait a bit—Message Summaries is currently rolling out in English for users in the United States, and WhatsApp plans to expand to more languages and countries later within the year.
